Art 4 was one of the hardest art classes for me, simply because of senior-itus. All throughout the class, I struggled to find motivation and inspiration towards my work. There were some positives though, I tried to heavily work on my acrylic painting skills whenever I could in the class because I find that a really hard medium to work with. I also tried to used color palettes and allow myself to only use some colors. I made my first piece, the reflection piece, using prisma colored pencils. I still do not like how that piece turned out. I struggled with replicating my vision for the piece onto the piece of paper due to the foreshortening of the building and the lines. I also had issues with getting the piece done on time, as I could not find it in myself to continue it outside of school because of how much I disliked how it looked. My second piece, the acrylic self portait, I have a overall 'meh' perspective on. I think that I should have took the time to perfect the facial anatomy before painting because it looks a bit off in some areas. I feel like the smile could have used some tweeking as well, as it is kind of off-putting. One thing I do like about the piece is how I tried to use a purple color scheme, though maybe thinking back on it I should have added a color that contrasts with the purples to make it pop a bit more. My third piece, the interior spaces piece, is another 'meh' piece. It's not one I'm particularly proud of and I personally think it looks kind of bland. I tried to use a monochrome color scheme of red to push myself. I painted it using acrylic and I really struggled using it, especially on areas like the door. Besides trying to motivate myself to work on it, another major challenge I had was trying to get the texture of the door while also applying value and light. I think you can definitely tell I struggled with this by looking at it as it looks a little off. My fourth piece, the ordinary to extraordinary piece is one I'm a little proud of but I am also scared that people wont be able to tell what the turtle is. When I first started this piece, I lacked creativity and could not find an idea to paint. I eventually just chose this random idea and decided to make it fall-themed. I think overall, it looks okay though I wish I could go back and touch up some places such as the forest and the field in front of the turtle so that they don't look as barren. My last piece, the landscape, is one I am not finished with. I wanted to keep a purple, blue, and green color-scheme for it. So far, I am okay with how the piece is turning out, and I am excited to add the leafery and greenery in it.
Art 4 has been kind of a wild ride that I should have taken more seriously. I definitely should have overall planned more for all of my pieces and managed my time a lot better. I am hoping to take these lessons with me to AP Art cause I know that I'll definitely need it for my concentrations.

Ref photosSketchWIP PhotosfinalNo, this one isn't completely done. I chose to do a jungle because I wanted to paint all the plants and leaves on the ground, but I have not gotten to. I wanted to do a color palette that included purples, blues, and greens throughout the piece. One challenge that I had was when creating the river, I was unsure what how to make it look like it was flowing. I used many reference photos to help me and that kind of worked. I really enjoyed using oil with this piece because of how easy it was to blend, which really helped me while creating the trees. I still need the paint the leaves of the trees, the vines of the trees, and the plants and overgrowth on the ground. Right now it does not quite look like jungle, but I am hoping that in the future after I paint all of those that it will.
For this assignment we had to touch up on our oil painting skills and paint something with and without using a pallet knife. We don't talk about the second one : )
